If you’re looking for high-quality wall tiles at affordable prices, you’re in the right place. Tiles Direct stocks a huge range of wall tiles in all styles, sizes, colours and finishes you could possibly imagine.
What does this mean for you? Well, essentially, it means you won’t need to shop anywhere else. From border tiles to glass wall tiles, you’re guaranteed to find the perfect tiles for your home all in one convenient place.
If you’re debating which is going to be the best option for decorating the walls in your home, let us tell you a little bit more about the benefits that wall tiles bring, helping you make the right decision from the start.
Wall tiling is a great alternative to paint and wallpaper, allowing you to introduce everything from a modern, glossy finish to rustic and intricate patterns and textures to your home - but the benefits don’t stop there.
Water-resistant: with an outstanding ability to repel water, there's a good reason wall tiles are a go-to choice for kitchens and bathrooms. From shower cubicles to kitchen splashbacks, you can have peace of mind that your walls will be well-protected from moisture.
Hard-wearing: whether you opt for ceramic or porcelain wall tiles, the good news is that they both deliver when it comes to hard-wearing properties - so there’s no need to worry about scratches and stains ruining your interiors. Built to last, wall tiles offer the perfect long-term solution for anyone looking to keep their home looking stylish for longer.
Easy to clean: with a simple wipe down with water and soap, wall tiles can be a perfect choice if you don’t want your walls to be marred by marks and stains. In busy households, the addition of tiles could be the perfect remedy for avoiding permanent mucky handprints, felt tip drawings or worse - leaving you with pristine walls, whatever the little ones throw at them.
Sustainable: if you want your home to echo your own environmental values, tiled walls are the way to go. With their impressive durability and composition from natural materials, wall tiles can keep your decor looking fresh for years without having a negative impact on the planet - a winning combination for you and Mother Earth.
Versatile: with an extensive range of wall tile sizes, shapes, colours and finishes available, you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to how to decorate your home. From elegant marble or onyx-effect tiles to modern metro tiles, the beauty of tiling your walls is that you’ll have endless styling possibilities - just let your creativity come to the fore.
Whether in your kitchen, bathroom or any other room in the house, wall tiles offer one of the most durable finishes available. Why not try making your own pattern by mixing contrasting colours? This could be something as simple as combining classic white and black wall tiles in a chequered pattern to achieve a bold vintage look - or if you’re feeling daring, add red wall tiles to the mix for a pop of colour!
With versatility in mind, you don’t just have the option of playing around with different colours - you can also incorporate different finishes to add depth and texture. For a rustic look, why not use split face wall tiles to create a rugged and organic feel? Alternatively, use angles to your advantage with some high-gloss ripple tiles that will bounce light around the room, instantly adding interest.
As if that wasn’t enough, don’t forget the huge variety of shapes and patterned tile designs we have on offer, too - giving you options galore when it comes to creating a less conventional wall design. From Moroccan-style kitchen splashback tiles to funky geometric designs for bathrooms, living rooms and beyond, the possibilities for using tiles in your home are endless. So, whatever your personal style or specific requirements are, choosing tiles to decorate your walls just makes sense.
The next decision is choosing which tile material to use. At Tiles Direct, we stock a variety of premium quality ceramic wall tiles, as well as porcelain wall tiles, but how do you know which is the best choice of tile for your home? Well, we’re here to explain the differences so you can make an informed decision that’s right for you.
There actually is very little difference between ceramic and porcelain tiles - they both deliver outstanding durability and low maintenance and are produced from ceramic clay. However, the clay used in porcelain tiles is finer and denser, and is fired at a higher temperature and pressure. The result: an incredibly strong and non-porous tile that’s designed to withstand almost anything, from extreme temperatures and moisture to scratches and impacts.
For this reason, porcelain tiles are often favoured for wet areas like bathrooms and kitchens, as they have fewer cavities that can absorb water. That isn’t to say ceramic tiles aren’t suitable for these areas - far from it, in fact - but the key is to always opt for the correct grout and install it properly to guarantee the longevity of your interior design choices.
Whether you’re embarking on a full home renovation or you just want to spruce up smaller areas of your home, we have an abundance of interior design ideas to help you create walls that demand to be noticed. With tiling options galore, we have wall tiles for everyone - even if you’re on a tight budget.
Instead of limiting your search to cheap wall tiles, start your hunt for a tiling solution that’s not only affordable but looks amazing. If that sounds like a challenge, we’ve got a few effective and economical ideas to help you get started.
Stylish splashbacks: who says practical has to be boring? With a diverse range of bold and beautiful kitchen wall tiles to choose from, you can tile a durable kitchen splashback without having to sacrifice visual impact. Say no to unwanted stains and splatter marks on your walls by adding splashback tiles to your kitchen that are not only sensible but stylish, too.
Cool and classic styles: give your walls timeless appeal with versatile white tiles on the walls. From bathrooms and kitchens to hallways and bedrooms, white tiles offer countless possibilities for creating an evergreen home interior that feels light and spacious. And if you want to add some colour, white goes with almost any colour, so you're guaranteed to find a shade that works.
Luxurious bathrooms: you’d be forgiven for thinking that bathrooms should prioritise function over fashion - but thanks to our collection of contemporary bathroom wall tiles, you won’t have to choose one over the other. Our warm, uniquely weathered travertine wall tiles are ideal for sink and shower surrounds, and are sure to add some rustic beauty to any bathroom design. Alternatively, give bathroom walls some added glitz with glossy mosaic wall tiles that demand to be noticed.
Retro metro vibes: channel some cool 1920s nostalgia by introducing black or white metro tiles to your kitchen wall. These retro-style metro tiles, reminiscent of the London Underground’s iconic Tube station designs, can have a dramatic impact on any home when coupled with ultra-modern furnishings - and with metro wall tiles available in a variety of sizes and shades, you’ll be spoilt for choice.
Fierce feature walls: make an unforgettable statement by incorporating some dramatic feature wall tiles into your home. From rich natural stone to intricately patterned ceramic wall tiles, the options are virtually endless - and there are no rules with feature walls, other than to find something you love that speaks loudly.
Nature-inspired interiors: bring natural beauty to walls with zero hassle with Peronda's range of natural stone-look or wood wall tiles. With all the stunning hues and patterns of the real deal without the maintenance or expense, it’s easy to bring rustic charm to any wall in your home.

Whether you’ve got a specific room in mind or want to give your entire property the royal treatment, our flexible range of wall tiles will make it easy to find your perfect match - and here are a few ideas to get your creative juices flowing.

With options ranging from vintage metro tiles to resilient marble-effect splashback tiles, finding wall tiles for kitchens is easy - even if you’re looking for something luxurious that’ll last for years to come.
For a splash of colour and a characterful addition, why not explore our diverse porcelain hexagonal tiles collection? With their honeycomb shape and a choice of shades including white, pink, blue, green and black, you can mix and match or go for a single colour to achieve a stunning, contemporary finish. If sleek and chic is more to your taste, you can’t go wrong with our Regale wall tiles - offering a choice of 3 understated grey hues, they’ll complement almost any kitchen colour scheme.
Bathrooms: the wet conditions associated with bathrooms make your tiling choices more important here than anywhere else. Thankfully, you’ll find a broad selection of bathroom wall tiles that offer a killer combination of great looks and hard-wearing materials. If you’re looking for wall tiles for bathrooms, practical porcelains and easy-to-clean ceramics make for sensible and affordable options that’ll still turn heads.
From pretty mosaic borders and shower cubicles to clean-cut large format wall tiles that are perfect for making smaller areas feel more spacious, wall tiles deliver a stylish yet functional finish couldn’t be easier. Whether you want bold and beautiful or calm and serene, with our impressive selection of bathroom wall tiles, all you have to do is decide which tiles match your individual style. For an art deco vibe, adorn the walls with Alhambra wall tiles - or add a touch of glamour with glitter tiles that are sure to catch the eye.
Living rooms: the living room is the heart of the home and deserves nothing but the very best when it comes to interior design. Living room wall tiles are available in a vibrant array of colours, patterns, shapes and sizes - meaning you can complement luxurious decor with some rich, autumnal shades or inject some colour into an otherwise muted room by finding wall tiles for living rooms adorned in big, bright colours.
From vintage-inspired fireplaces to striking 3D cube mosaic wall tiles that create stunning visual effects on feature walls, adorning your living room walls with tiles is the ideal way to introduce some elegant charm. Finish with plenty of soft furnishings and you’ll have a sumptuous space primed for relaxation.
Bedrooms: whether you’d prefer your bedroom to be a zen zone bathed in subtle, calming shades or you need your boudoir to make a dramatic impact, tracking down suitable bedroom wall tiles shouldn’t be a problem.
Set your home apart with a striking statement wall behind your headboard made entirely from patterned encaustic tiles - or choose cool slate wall tiles instead for a smart and contemporary alternative. You could even use the aptly named Pillowstone 3D wall tiles to add a sense of depth and texture to your bedroom design which will mimic the softness of your bed linen.
Hallways: as the gateway to your home, the hallway is often a neglected area when it comes to interior design, with the focus solely on function rather than aesthetics. However, the addition of some wall tiles can easily inject some style into this functional space - while also upping this well-trodden area’s practical properties, protecting walls from inevitable scuff marks and scratches.
Whether you opt for eye-catching encaustic designs to replicate the style of period properties or create a sense of grandeur with mirrored tiles made from glass, we’re confident your hallway will never feel dull or drab again.
At Tiles Direct, we offer a huge range of kitchen and bathroom wall tiles. So, whether you’re looking for contemporary tiles or something a little more traditional, you’re guaranteed to find the perfect finish.
For a natural, earthy look, why not extend your wooden flooring onto your walls with our ultra-realistic vintage wood tiles? Alternatively, if stone is more your thing, our fantastic range of travertine wall tiles and marble wall tiles can introduce a touch of luxury while maintaining a mellow hue. Brick wall tiles are also a great option if you want to combine the size of metro tiles with the finish of natural stone.
Wall tiles can be a great way to make a statement in your home and harnessing the power of different tile finishes can go a long way in magnifying their beauty. For instance, matt tiles can give a chic and contemporary finish, glossy tiles help bounce light around the room and cool crackle glaze finish tiles can bring antique charm for a rustic aesthetic.
Get all eyes on your kitchen’s best features with some white Infinity tiles. Their seamless patterns turn walls into a canvas of texture and give otherwise flat surfaces some movement, with light reflecting around the room at different angles.
Alternatively, give your kitchen walls some texture against smooth worktops and cabinets with pretty Victorian penny mosaic tiles. Boasting a beautiful variety of colours, textures and sizes, they're guaranteed to add some wow factor to culinary spaces. Or bust out some herringbone pattern mosaic tiles that are a sure-fire way to draw attention to your walls and give them a trendy and timeless finish.
When it comes to wall tiles for bathrooms, the options are practically endless. For a crisp, clean and classic look, use striking white border tiles to create visual distinctions on walls. Or if you want to make a powerful first impression, our porcelain wall tiles come in a huge range of dramatic shades. Alternatively, make use of mosaic wall tiles to create colour-filled accents and contrasting textures - be it glossy glass in bright hues, shimmering metallic, matt natural stone or dark and luxurious black mosaic tiles.
If you want to add a touch of sparkle to your home’s design, our quartz wall tiles are the ultimate in interior glamour - why not opt for some black quartz wall tiles to help your bathroom walls give the Milky Way a run for its money? If matt is more your thing, you can use slate wall tiles to give your bathroom or kitchen a sleek and contemporary look.
When it comes to picking the right size of tile, you’ll have a broad spectrum to choose from. However, the size of tile can make a big difference to the overall finish, so it pays to assess all of your options before you buy.
For instance, small format tiles like 7.5cm x 15cm metro tiles, or sheets of small mosaics, are perfect for accentuating modest spaces and transforming them into stand-out features. However, small tiles come with more grout lines, which can make some areas feel busy and smaller by distracting the eye.
If this is a concern you’re facing, why not opt for a large format tile like a 60cm x 60cm or 30cm x 60xm instead? With fewer grout lines, they can work to elongate walls, giving the illusion of more space.
Installing wall tiles can be an extremely satisfying home renovation project, but, unless you’re a seasoned tiler, you may want to read our tips on wall tile installation first to achieve no less than a perfect finish.
Whether you opt for ceramic or porcelain wall tiles, the basic principles for installing them apply to both. In terms of the size and shape, there are no hard and fast rules here. However, for bigger, flat areas, a large format tile can be easier to lay and creates a nice, smooth finish - smaller tiles and mosaics are well-suited for uneven or curved areas as they have greater flexibility, but they nonetheless achieve a smooth finish.
For matters of colour and finish, much of the decision comes down to personal taste - but you may also want to consider the size of the room and natural light. For instance, opting for lighter tones and glossy finishes in small areas will work to brighten the room and make it feel bigger. In the same way, larger spaces can be made to feel more characterful with bold colours and matt textures.
Getting started: measure the area you wish to tile and calculate the amount of tiles you’ll need to cover the space - allowing at least 10% extra for tile cuts. You’ll also need to work out the amount of tile adhesive and grout you’ll need - again, allowing for extra so that you don’t run out halfway through the job. If you’re unsure of how to do this, our tile experts are on hand to help you find the right quantities and make sure you opt for the right products for your specified area.
Prep the walls: when it comes to laying your tiles, you’ll first need to prepare the surfaces. For a standard wall like a kitchen splashback or living room wall, ceramic and porcelain tiles can be laid directly onto the existing surface - be that plasterboard, tiles or wood. They’ll just need to be as clean and dust-free as possible. However, for bathrooms and shower rooms, it’s recommended to apply a water-resistant aqua board before attaching the tiles that will help to protect the wall behind from moisture.
Plan your design: with your walls prepped, it’s now time to formulate your pattern - this will ensure your design is square and laid straight. Measure both horizontally and vertically to find the middle point of the area - this will be your starting point - marking the lines with chalk or string as a guide. Always use a spirit level here, rather than relying on existing fixtures that may not be 100% level. It’s also advisable to tack in a temporary baton on the bottom row to help support the weight of the tiles while everything dries.

Lay the tiles: starting from your middle point, apply adhesive with a notched trowel to a small area, laying a few tiles at a time along the bottom row and working upwards. Allow a small space between each tile for the grout - using tile spacers to ensure an even finish.
Apply the grout: with your tiles firmly attached, allow the adhesive to dry before applying grout. Tool up with a grout float to make the job easier, ensuring grout is evenly distributed between the tile joints - this will fully seal your tiles from moisture, giving you a sleek and professional finish.
Tidy up: once dry, wipe the area clean with a wet sponge to remove grout residue - this may need to be repeated several times. When choosing grout, we’d always recommend opting for a waterproof and mould-resistant variety for minimum maintenance, and we have plenty to choose from, including a variety of different grout colours - just let your creative side go wild.
