Metro Tiles: Your Springtime Colour Inspiration

While it doesn’t seem quite true at the minute, it’ll soon be spring, and colour will start to appear in gardens and parks across the land as flowers begin to bloom and trees begin turning green again. Having an interior design plan that reflects this is always a good strategy, and revamping your interiors to include colourful metro tiles is definitely the way forward for spring 2018. Below, we’ve listed a few ways you can use colour to make a big, beautiful impact in the year ahead.

Bring the outside in

If you’re lucky enough to have a kitchen with a patio door that flows into a gorgeous, blooming garden, you’ll need some tiles that really epitomise this indoor-outdoor connection. Our suggestion? Some green metro tiles – in any shade. They’ll complement your outdoor foliage while giving your kitchen a natural sheen. Consider combining different shades of green, or using complementary colours like light browns and yellows, to achieve a forest-like dappled-with-sunlight look.

Choose sharp scarlet for a statement splashback

Deep reds are ideal for a splashback in an all-action family kitchen. Best paired with white cabinets and fittings, a sharp injection of red-coloured kitchen wall tiles can reinvigorate a space. Better yet, you can revolutionise your kitchen for an entirely affordable price, as splashbacks are only positioned behind sinks and oven tops, so you’ll only need a small number of red metro tiles to really transform a space.

Banish boring bathroom blues with blue

Having white bathroom wall tiles is a safe option, right? It’ll look good, especially with metro tiles, crisp and inviting, reflecting spring sunshine – but if you’re looking for something out of the ordinary, we’ve got just the thing. Reflect the optimism of the new season by opting for blue metro tiles in your bathroom. Any shade will do, but if you’re after a light, airy bathroom, paler, more turquoisey blues are the perfect solution. A darker blue tile in the bath/shower area, however, can create a feeling of opulence – ideal in a space where you want to indulge in a long soak.

Mix it up!

If uniform, monochromatic designs aren’t your thing and you fancy making a real statement with your tile choices, why not throw caution to the wind and mix and match your tiles? Don’t be afraid of doing this, as metro tiles are so sleek and shiny that any eclectic combination of tiles is a winner – either as a playful kitchen splashback or as big, bold bathroom wall tiles. The layout of your tiles can be mixed up, too – for example, you may choose to create a herringbone pattern, or a diagonal layout – it’s all up to you. Using two or three colours in a striped or checkered pattern, combined with a different layout, will guarantee your kitchen tiles stand out.

Get creative with grout

Combining metro tiles with different colours of grout is a sure-fire way to draw attention to your new springtime look, be it in your kitchen or bathroom. Neon-coloured grout in orange or green works beautifully alongside white metro tiles – the sharp colouring almost shining through the white tiles creates a dazzling, green-grass-through-snow effect. Wonderful and totally fitting for this time of year!
